Cool School This is what the children decided to christen our Sunday School which caters for children from 3-12 and meets every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month, which is an all age worship service in which the children stay in church with the adults for the whole service. We have a number of dedicated adult leaders who teach the children on a rota basis, all of whom have gone through our child protection procedures and receive regular support and training. Storykeepers In August last year we ran our first ever holiday club: Storykeepers in which the children discovered what it was like to be a Christian in Rome in AD64, in the company of Ben the baker and his family. Since then Storykeepers has continued to meet on a monthly basis generally on the first Sunday of every month: 3:30 - 5:15pm. Camelot On October 9th Storykeepers became Camelot. Following more of a Kidz Club model as piloted by Frontline, Trinity Church in Page Moss and others the children now learn about God's love in the company of many of the knights of the round table. The club meets monthly on Sunday afternoons: 3:30 - 5pm and is a mixture of singing, wacky games and teaching based on the life of Moses. It is open to any child between 5 and 11, more details from the vicar. Child Friendly Church Award On 22nd November, St. Andrew's became the sixth church in the Diocese to be awarded the Child Friendly Award by Jane Leadbetter children's officer for the Diocese. This followed a long process through which the church had to prove that they were meeting certain criteria to ensure that children were welcomed and fully integrated and included into the life of the church and that all work undertaken with them was to a high standard. Current activities include the Sunday "Cool School" and "Storykeepers" run between 3:30pm and 5:15pm on the first Sunday of every month. |
